The best coaches are the ones who have played the game they are coaching.  They coach because they love the game and want to help others succeed at the game.  No world class athlete wins without a coach.  The best players in the world, whether as individual athletes like a tennis player, or a team athlete like a football player all have a coach.  A coach is someone who helps to evaluate a player as an individual and looks for any weak points in their ability to perform at their game. Then a plan is developed to help them improve and master the skills to become a winner.

Health and life are games.  There are rules like any game – if you violate the rules, you receive a penalty.  In health, like in a football game, the penalties can be a temporary set-back or cause you to lose the game.  You must play by the rules or you will always lose.  A coach’s main job early on in a player’s career is to teach them the rules.

The coach’s job then is to assess the skills of the player – for strong points such as how fast they are.  Then figure out how to maximize that skill to the player’s advantage.

Understanding the weak points of the player’s game is even more important.  These are the traits that will hold the player back.  Once the player is evaluated, the coach develops a plan to help the player improve those skills and overcome the weaknesses.

Healthier living.A coach must be able to help a player overcome or compensate for some injuries that they may have incurred so that they can still play at a very high level and win.

Lastly, a coach does two very important things – first develop a training or practice program to help the player maximize already strong skills, improve on the weak skills and work around any injuries.  Then the coach develops the game plan.  That puts it all together so the player wins.

So – you are the player and I am the coach.

I play hard at the game of health.  I love to coach others in the game of health.  I am a player coach.

First, I help to make sure you understand the rules of the game of health.

As a coach, I will:

  • evaluate your current level of health
  • evaluate your current skills at diet and exercise
  • evaluate your family history and personal health history looking for clues that may need “special” attention

I will develop the training program necessary for you as an individual to improve your game so you can win at the game of health.  As a coach, I need to understand you as a total person.  I will need to know what your goals are, how much time you can devote to practice, how is your team, family and friends going to affect your ability to practice and play?

You need a coach.  I play this game of health personally everyday.  I have coached hundreds of people to play better and win more.  I know that not knowing the rules of the game, not practicing and not playing the game to win always and I mean always, results in losing the game.  When the game we are talking about is health and winning at health will be the major factor in your “life”, then the importance of the game is life or death.  And the importance of picking the right coach is vital.
